My Chicken Treat Recipes for Washington’s Birthday Holiday

Hello everyone I am back with something new and interesting to share with you all. I am penning down my thoughts here. This is all about how I spent my yesterday’s holiday. This weekend I was so much busy that I could not get time to sit and relax even for a second. After successful celebration of Valentine’s Day which I had shared earlier here Valentine’s Day Recipes Serve to Your Lover. On Feb 16, it was Washington’s Birthday which is a federal holiday celebrated in the honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States.

So it was a long weekend for my kids and husband. They all were expecting me to serve something good and really delicious at the dinner table. So being a mom and wife I had to make them feel really happy and serve something different and scrumptious. One thing was there in my mind why not to cook something that is really easy and doesn’t take hours to prepare. I picked up my smartphone and browsed different recipes over the web and came across the below listed two recipes from Knorr. I have been often using Knorr products quite for some time now. Earlier I was using recipes from Kraft and Epicurious. Recipes from these two food brands are also good but as you all know we want always something new and really different to eat. I thought change is must!

I have read about Knorr chicken recipe’s ratings and reviews these are quite satisfactory. I thought why not to look-up for something easy to cook actually I wanted chicken recipes that can be cooked in just 30 minutes. So I zeroed in my search and choose the following two chicken recipes.

Fiesta Lime Chicken & Rice:

This one I choose because as my kids like the chicken and rice combination a lot. Also it can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. Other than chicken which is one of its main ingredient it contains taco toppings shredded cheddar cheese, chopped tomatoes and onion along with tortilla chips which are loved by my kids. You can go through the video of How to Make Knorr Fiesta Lime Chicken & Rice Bowl just for better clarity of the cooking method. This one is twist to the basic recipe for chicken and rice. Isn’t it surprising that such a delicious chicken dish gets ready in just few minutes? Its servings are for four and ours is also a family of four so it was quite a substantial one for all of us. I liked this one as it contains the mixture of lime with rice which gives a superb flavor to this dish.

Coconut-Curry Chicken:

Another chicken dish which I opted for; but this one has chicken with a gravy along with rice. This one was totally different one; which I tried for the first time. We generally take bread instead of rice but for the first time we thought to go for such a combination. I find rice quite a substantial one so opted for this one. Here you need curry powder, bell pepper and coconut milk which are basically required for making a curry so go for them always. Here also I have added a video URL just to know the recipe methods in detail. This video will surely clear all your cooking doubts there is no scope for any goof ups. Have a look at the video How to Make Knorr Coconut Curry which itself is quite explanatory. I followed the cooking instructions as per the video and cooked this dish accordingly.

Quite to my surprise everyone in my family loved it. My husband who is a picky eater and is always particular about the texture of the served chicken. He was quite surprised as these two chicken recipes tasted different to him. The first word that my husband uttered after eating them was “Delicious”.

You know what heart-in-heart I was quite happy as I could cook something quite different and delicious being it my first attempt at cooking of these new chicken recipes. These chicken dishes made my day and I was feeling satisfied and happy.

However, we always look for some recipes which are easy to make because by the time of dinner you are so tired that you look for easy alternatives and if you are a working woman, single parent, student then you can understand how difficult it is to manage kitchen and work together. And eating out every day is not possible firstly because it’s not healthy and secondly our pocket doesn’t allow us to spend big bucks each day on food. So what we can do? Secondly, opt for recipes which are semi-cooked or pre-cooked, mostly comes in small packages but they are not scrumptious at all. It’s just good when you are hungry, don’t know what to do? Put it inside the hot water or cook it in microwave and dig in. and lastly opt for easy and simple cooking, which saves time and it’s tasty too!

Easy Chicken Recipe: Coco-Cola Chicken Wings

One of my favorite chicken recipe is Coco-cola chicken or Sticky Chicken recipe. It’s simple yet an easy recipe. I got this recipe quite a long back and on weekdays I try to make such easy chicken recipes which saves time and efforts. Serve this with rice and some grilled vegetable, it taste just great.

Note: don’t use diet coke as it do not contain any sugar content in it. Use the classic Coca-Cola for this recipe.

This simple recipe is finger-licking tasty, the caramelized and simmering sauce makes this recipe really scrumptious. Kids simply love the tangy and sweet flavors of this recipe. This recipe is a classic Chinese recipe and got inspired from sweet and sour chicken recipe. Ideally this recipe is made with chicken wings or chicken pieces with bones, don’t use boneless chicken pieces for this recipe. I saw this recipe first time on Masterchef’s episode, although they baked the chicken pieces but I made them in a skillet pan and also made few changes to make this recipe in my style. Slow-Cooker Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani

These days I am completely experimenting slow cooker recipes and as  promised earlier, I did try the Indian biryani recipe in slow cooker! And the biryani was super scrumptious moreover, it was really simple to make because of slow cooking, the flavors were really aromatic and delicious.

Slow Cooker Recipe

If you don’t know about biryani then it is a Muglai rice dish and it’s famous in Hyderabad which is situated in India. I got this recipe when I was in India quite a long back from an Indian lady, although I made this recipe earlier too as instructed by my friend. But recently one of my Indian male friend told me a very interesting fact about Muglai food that it is cooked in low temperature and cooked for a longer period of time. So that, flavors and aroma are maintained. He said it’s definitely not like our fast foods which can be cooked in just few minutes in fact authentic Muglai recipes are cooked at very low temperature and cooked for about 8-10 hours. From here, I thought of trying this recipe in slow cooker as we know that at low settings we can cook any recipe specially meat or chicken recipe for about 8-10 hours. So could be ideal temperature for cooking biryani too.

Anyways if you are making any authentic recipe, I would suggest get spices and ingredients authentic too. You can get the Indian spices and ingredients easily in the local Indian market. One of the major ingredient is Indian ghee (you can get this easily too in the Indian market).
Anyways let’s start cooking this amazing recipe –

Chicken Stew Indian Style

If we talk about chicken stew recipe, even I am not sure about its origin. I mean stew is made almost everywhere Mexico, Spain, United States, Italy, United Kingdom, Belgium, Brazil, Romania and even India. I have tried many versions of stew across the world but recently I have tasted Indian version of chicken stew. Its origin is from southern part of India and if I am not wrong is called "nadan kozhi "stew in Kerala. I don’t know how to pronounce it, but I guess that’s the real name of this dish. (If you know the actual name of this dish, please share with us too.)

It’s not like our southern America’s chicken stew but the flavors and spices used in this recipe, is simply aromatic and mouthwatering. I absolutely love the flavors and the way it blends in your mouth pallet. You can serve this with steamed rice, it tastes amazing with rice or if you want you can have them with bread too. If you are worried for the spices then don’t worry you will find all the spices and herbs near any Indian market.
